[#Snapchat] : The sunglasses “spectacles”, a product to improve customer experience?
Snapchat, a social media app, has revealed his video-recording sunglasses called “Spectacles” and rebranded his marque in “Snap Inc”. These sunglasses, set by Snapchat to improve customer experience and to strengthen “sharing spirit” of Snapchat users, will cost $129.99 and contain a 115-degree-angle lens; they will allow the wearer to record up to 30 seconds of video.
Evan Spiegel, a Snapchat CEO, refers to “them as a toy, to be worn for kicks at a barbecue or an outdoor concert—Spectacles video syncs wirelessly to a smartphone, making it easily shareable” says Seth Stevenson, a social media specialist for The Wall Street Journal. In the same way, Dan Former, editor in Chief for Recode, thinks that : “The Spectacles are designed to make it easy to record what you’re actually seeing, in the moment, without having to awkwardly fish your giant smartphone out of your pocket and holding it in front of your face”.
To remember, the first hardware product from Snap Inc has been created for Snapchat users to share quickly and in easy ways their stories with peers.
The launch of the spectacles is a first step for Snap Inc to distinguish the company from its services to delivery a good customer experience. According to Hope King, tech reporter for @Cnn, Evan Spiegel explained why he’s dropping the word “chat” : “When we were just getting started it made sense to name our company Snapchat Inc., because Snapchat was our only product! Now that we are developing other products, like spectacles, we need a name that goes beyond just one product.”
According to me, spectacles are a good opportunity to develop “the human side” and to reinforce the shareable of content. Brands can take this opportunity to communicate efficiently with people.
